Dr. Mark Holterman is a pediatric surgeon in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a Ph.D. in Medicine and Immunology in 1988. He is committed t finding cures for chronic medical conditions, including diabetes. As such he is a member of the American Diabetes Association.

Dr. Holterman is also involved with other organizations such as the International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the Children of Vietnam. This nonprofit helps doctors and nurses improve their car in this country. The work is carried out by volunteers and involves them helping by providing things such as training and patient care. The volunteers, who must obtain a visa and passport prior to entering Vietnam, stay in the country for a period of time helping medical professionals carry out their duties. They are responsible for the costs of their stay such as hotel fees, travel, food, and any other expenses they incur.
After graduating with his medical degree, Dr. Mark Holterman did his residency at the University of Virginia. He then did his fellowship at Seattle Children’s for two years. During this time he was also an instructor in surgery at the University of Washington. In 1995 he moved to Canada and worked for the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal as a research associate. Returning to academics, Dr. Mark Holterman joined the University of Illinois at Chicago in July 1997 as a professor where he led a number of research programs. After a few other positions in 2012 he founded Mariam Global Health where he serves as the CEO. This is an investment and business management company that focuses on the healthcare field.
